If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,
Would you hear my voice come thru the music,
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
Its a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken,
Perhaps they're better left unsung.
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air.
Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.
There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.
Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.
But if you fall you fall alone,
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.
La dee da da da, la da da da da, da da da, da da, da da da da da
La da da da, la da da, da da, la da da da, la da, da da.
I fooking hate Mondays (especially if I've had to work over the weekend). So if you, like me, have problems dealing with them Monday-blues syndrome, here's a little something to help ease the comedown. Its a classic tune from the Grateful Dead LP American Beauty which made me desert island discs.
Hope you guys out there will take the time to check out the video & certainly hope it improves yer mood. I know it has, mine. Turn on, tune in & fooking zone out!!!
ps:Love this song & have thoughtfully provided lyrics fer impromptu karaoke session. Please leave yer comments bout what you think & hope yer Monday is no Boomtown Rats experience . . .

awesome. besides ripple, box of rain is amazing too. pity you limited the desert island picks to just 5 choices. i was really hard pressed to include this as well.
nick m, that's why its interesting. By limiting it to just five, its supposed to be a seriously tough choice.
However, as you saw quite a few people like me wifey & her bro, Isa, Anba et al couldn't fooking count!
But more tragically were those who struggled to find two nevermind five Lps fer the list.
you're right about that. after coming up with my 5, i realised so many of the other stuff that i like didn't make it, such as fugazi, rollins band, fudge tunnel, RATM, butthole surfers ...
i think you know why i chose the LPs i did. meathook seed's embedded is something i pull out now and then and it still sounds so frickin'awesome. ditto that for necroticism as well.
as you already know, john peel named nirvana's nevermind as the album that defined the 90s (napalm's scum for the 80s). but to me, it was in in utero that cobain's genius really shone through.
ok man, i'll be honest. dont know much about GD axcept that they were a bunch of granola heads.
but shit man, i despise mondays like hell too. that means another 4 days till i hook up with my girl again. rindu and all the corny shit la geng.
done the tag btw.
Yes, can imagine how fooked up today must be fer you given yer gooners wonderful showing v boro on sun. Cis!
ps: Yo, people, pls drop by kerp's blog at http://letswheel.blogspot.com/ fer his desert island discs.
Ha Ha Ha Balaji...
i did give 5 albums balaji...and the best 12 songs i've ever listened to separately...not sure if they count as albums rite...
Monday does seemd to get the worst out of Me...Normally i listen to "George Harrison's My Sweet Lord" or Kansas " Carry on My Wayward Son"..to cope with them Darn Monday Blues...
Bala: Nice mellow vibes with this one. Was pleasantly surprised with this GD offering! Got me looking thru my CSNY and The Band's singles again this unforgivingly hot Moan-day morning.
Nick M: Bro you're da man! Meathook Seed, Fudge Tunnel and John Peel - all mentioned in one posting!! FT's Hate Song's in E minor is right up there with Godflesh's StreetCleaner EP for me when it comes to unearthly gut rumbling industrial noise sludge meltdown. As then-reputable metal mag Kerrang would've rated it -ClassicKKKKs!!!!!
seriously... not my kind of music. =/
anba: Kansas! metalhead with a guilty pleasure eh? Yes, I too like that George Harrison album (All Things Must Pass). All together now . . . Myyy Sweet Loord . . . Hare Krishna . . . Hare Rama!
premo: Yup, its hot allrite. Perhaps a fitting soundtrack fer this particularly dry, roasting Monday would have been America's Horse With No Name! - "I rode thru the desert with a horse with no name . . ."
senorita: Its cool. So long as ada try. The Dead's ultra-mellow hippy vibes aren't fer everybody.
Balaji...what have you unleashed upon us...hahahah
This is me first time listening to GrateFul Dead...first time listening to it..i was like k..nice song...but...later after finishing my class..sat back listened to it again..the song was growin on me..thas a good sign...
It Reminds of this other song i know
Fairport Convention
"Pleasure and Pain"...
I have only 2 song of Kansas on my collection of MP'3s and 2-3 songs of George Harrison's...funny thing is that when i was schooling and studying and times were hard i could buy 2-3 albums or cassettes in a month but now since i'm working got other priorities what to do, just convenient fer me to download...i just have like roughly 600-700 songs in my workplace PC...put on me earphones and play it randomly...
Got Songs frm all sorts of Genre..
Metal,Punk,Rock,Reggae,Electronic....POP..Ecclectic Bunch...
Crosby Stills and Nash,Destruction, dimmu Borgir,Dire Straits,Everly Brothers, George Harrison,Godflesh..Hellacopters,..etc..
Just tekan the shuflle button till i find the songs i wanna hear...monday to friday..during work time...thas my routine

checking on senorita now ... wonder what kinda music she likes ... hehehe
anba: Yup, same here, the headphones sure make the work day pass by that much faster. Besides the fat CD folder sitting on a chair next to me desk, the hard drive is also filled with Napalm Death, Cure, Ramones, JJ Cale etc.
Don't lie - yer a fooking closet Kansas freak ha ha!!!
Am no hardcore Deadhead but this tune is da bomb lar . . .
ps: Listening to Batu Borgolek's "Sticky Fingers" right now.
kerp & senorita: "The beginning of a beautiful friendship" (???) to paraphrase Bogart in Casablanca.
azer: Boomtown Rats kinda Monday huh? Hope you didn't fooking blow some punk(s) away! Glad you liked the tune.
omg.. dun check me out... seriously.. u'll b disappointed.. me and music... merely acquaintance
A blardee mellow song! Not a GD fan but i can dig this song.
senorita: Come to thnk of it, yeah, me should have tagged you instead of that lazy bum Kopite78. Yes, me know you said you can only think of two but THINK HARDER AUNTY! So there, you've been tagged! Pls give us yer desert island discs & please tag another three bloggers.
JonC: Yeah, dude, the Dead is a trip allright . . . a damn mellow, slightly fuzzy trip . . .
2 Balaji and everyone...
I forgot to mention i my humble opinion what i think a very underrated band...
Do Check Out Fu Manchu vids on You Tube
King Of The Road,Squash the FLy,Evil Eye, Written in Stone,Hell on Wheels,Mongoose, Grasschopper..and many more...
I kind of Stumble don these 2 bands to
High on Fire and Black Cobra..
Hope ye All Enjoy them..tc...
yo senorita,
hey, not necesarily about the boobs but brains...
bala,
come on, get it out of your chest and name us your island chic.
kerp: me desert island chicc? Who else but me wifey lar! he he
wifey: Do I get some brownie points so I can sneek out on sunday nite to watch the game?
ps: Kerp, am shocked you didn't name yer gal. Rindu & jiwang it seems, tsk tsk, ini la perangai spandex rock fans who think they are all Tommy Fooking Lee . . .
yes, anba, have a few Fu Manchu lps. Fab stoner rock. Am sure you like Kyuss 'Blues fer the Red Sun' as well. will check out the other two bands when have the time.
Everyone, please head over to senorita's blog to view her desert island discs @ http://i-am-notty-and-nice.blogspot.com/ .
boss, its way past midnight and reena must be sound asleep. you're safe now. spill it.
hehehehehehehehehhehhhe...
kerp: but all i think of when i see Keeley is BOOBS! but nvm, appreciate it though.. =)
lil bro...i love it...my first ever GD tune!
senorita: Don't worry, am sure you'll find a way to make up fer it . . .
ceekay: Mr Lum, is that you? Glad you liked the tune!
Kerp: Yo bro, you unmarried fellas ar, how shall I put it . . . tactically naive la.
AD: Your desert island chick would have to be Nigella Lawson. She's hot and more importantly, she can cook feasts for Bala! Hehe!!
As for Stoner rock/metal fans out there, yeah Kyuss and the Queens rule but do check out these albums too:
1) Tab - Monster Magnet
2) Torche' (self titled)
3) Pink - Boris
4) NOLA - Down
5) Anything by Crowbar
6) Blessed Black Wings - High On Fire
7) Southern Discomfort - Eyehategod
8) Confederacy Of Ruined Lives - Eyehategod
9) At Soundless Dawn - Red Sparowes
10) The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw - Pelican
Torche' are one of the newer bands on the scene now but they've honed to perfection that missing link between QOTSA's off-kilter angular riffs and Kyuss's thick slabtastic sound.
Boris, for the unitiated, are a Japanese drone rock trio that have a penchant for My Bloody Valentine, Black Sabbath and stacks of Marshall tube amps that will bleed you to aural submission. Fudge Tunnel's ferocious legacy continues...
Red Sparowes and Pelican are stalwarts of the burgeoning instru-metal scene. No vocals - just sprawling orchestral beauty and texture delivered via blissful low end vibes.
premo: Nigella, no lar, not me cup of tea at all. That's not to say she's ugly or anything like that, she just doesn't rock me boat.
instru-metal? Karam to Burn anyone? Fooking awesome band.
Thanx fer the heads up on the other stuff.
ooops sorry, karma to burn
hey... with so many of ur friends here reading ur blog, can i ask them to guess who would most probably be ur desert island chick? (other than ur wife) i assume ur frens know u well enuff to come up with some names... celebs/AV star/singers..? anyone?
*cabut*
there you go bala. we may be tactically naive whatever that means but c'mon, be a sport. ok it may not be nigella the dessert queen but apart from Reena, i'm sure you have 10 other names. just name us one la geng.
now spill it man. SPILL IT!!
hehehe...
Guys and gals, i've got the ball rolling on the top 5 movies list in me blog. Have tagged AD and Mark..... might add more later.
Pls feel free to check it out and comment. By all mean go put up ya own list in ya blog as well if ya a movie buff.
Get ya thinking caps and popcorns out ;0)
Sorry for the late post. was busy shifting office... so i didn't have my PC for the past 2 days.
the video was cool... little too mellow and hippy for my taste, but i think it is the kind of stuff that grows on you if you listen to it a few more times. visuals were very "interesting". very psychedelic.
And how did this whole thing become about Bala and Nigella? hahahahaa. Premo... what are you smoking man. hehehehehee.
anfielddevotee: so are you going to spill the beans? sounds to me like you are stuck in a pretty fooked up corner right now. heheheheheee
Bala,
Tinesh did his Island 5s. feel free to check it out guys. thanks.
