Natty Dread!

There are a few reasons why me chose to post a vid of this classic Bob Marley chooon, a slow-burn version of No Woman, No Cry.

Firstly, keeping with the theme of the last posting, me thought it appropriate that this blog feature a little ditty from Mr Pakalolo himself. A small show of defiance on the part of Fer Fook's Sake.

Secondly, it is also dedicated to me dear wifey who has thus far refused me simple request that she sport dreadlocks. Me thinks she will look fooking awesome. Me even offered to sponsor NOT just the salon bill but also the knitted tea cosy (in red, gold & green of course) fer her dreads when she has to go to court!

Thirdly, coz its a fooking awesome song which should get us all into a nice mellow mood fer a super, chill-out long weekend. Enjoy & Happy Wesak Day!

Regarding this song...
A Couple of months ago ah spotted some of my students having the quotes " No Woman ..No Cry " on their shirts as their motto since some of them came frm All Boys Boarding Skuel...
They all thought that It meant No Women in their life means no Misery caused by em...(which is something that i agree..)
Me actually had to correct them by asking them to read the original lyrics...and explaining to them what it really meant
My Maths class suddenly became Lyrics interpretation class to the dismay of the majority of female students...
What to do...need to correct misconceptions...better catch em frm young...

Imagine still....Bala with his 3 strands of hair knotted together in a vain attempt to form a dreadlock, or should that be a dreadthread?

i remember back then like any other poseur kids, it was the gang's theme song because we thought by not having any girlfriend, we were the brutal-kind of guys. looking back, we sounded like a loser-bunch. and, oh yes, that was the only song we knew of Bob Marley's. and yet we still put on our pakalolo tshirt practically on daily basis and only got it washed once every fortnightly. poseur gila la bro...hehehehe....

* eh anba brother man, Happy Teacher's Day to you bro!

senorita: No need to look so far. In fact, many Saivates (ie Hindus who worship Lord Shiva) let their hair grow into dreadlocks to resemble the matted locks of the Great Lord Himself.

In India, many Sadhus (holy men) smoke ganja to get into a meditative state. A milk/yougurt/ganja drink is widely & freely sold in many places in India fer religious purposes.

Hmmmm, wonder if anyone like to force home the above issues here in good ole Malaysia under the FREEDOM OF RELIGION clause of the Constitution?

nickm: Why not? Cool what?

Bernard: But me can still say me has more hair then you!!!

anba: Oi, you guru ah? Tee hee. Happy Teachers Day dude. Good on you fer giving them some real & valuable lessons. And why were the ladies in your class uninterested in the late, great Marley's legacy? Bodoh . . .

moz: Berbie gonna be a scum la. Crouch fer Spurs?

kerp: Ha ha! As one me Punjabi friends used to say, "No woman, no cry. No ganja no high. No beer no Bai!"

ps: Did you know that the term 'ganja' is NOT Carribean in origin. It is Sanskrit! The word & the wonderful leaf was brought to Jamaica by indentured Indian labourers. Imagine, it was the machas who introduced the sweet leaf to dem Rastas!!! So if it weren't fer the Indians, there'd be no Wailers or reggae fer that matter!

geee.... i really did not know that

hehehehehe...while we're at it, there's this one punjabi neighbour of ours who doesnt drink, and uncle zorro jested in surprise he's never seen a bai without a can in his hand.

*very informative. me didnt know that either. how about punanis bro? apparently it is a type of fruit that can be found in jamaica.

bala said- "berbie gonna be a scum la".

ok i'm not gonna say anything bcos as we all know, mozzz has been a great pal and out of great respect i think its a wise move to just shut the hell up...but i'll giggle myself silly while making my exit from FFS...

tuan balakov/tuan kerpov,

MWAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
but seriously though..do yu think he's worth the 15M price tag la rafafa has put on his head? (honestly now....hehehhe)

as it is they're having trouble to offload darren senget a/l bengkok.(16M+++). *sigh*

hmmmm....dude...see that you've done your reeesearch.:)))
but honestly though, i really didn't know it was sanskrit in origin and brought in by the indentured labourers to jamaica. i was aware that it was one of the instruments/tools/catalysts used to entice the meditative state..but my exposure to this little known fact was limited to back-end i.e. vis-a-vis the fab four's visit to rishikesh..and what happened after that.

so now i know.....
rudebhoyyyyy out.

appreciatively,
moziscrotched.

p.s. whatever ramoz is doing - i think he should get rid at leas t half of the current side, england internationals or not.. (e.g. jenas = he has trouble kicking a ball straight - england midfielder? please la)*sigh*

went for vesak celebrations today..to sort of i guess absolve or rather T-R-Y TO absolve at least part of my sins..but i guess
that that's a bit far fetched for even reality to accept..:)

but every vesak, the moment i step it to the time i step out - just wanted to say (without sounding to contrite and ridiculously spiritual) yu come out a new man
the wise one has that
touch on yu
i suppose.

happy vesak brudder dan sister skalian. now i've got go and get some meat/nicotine into the system. hand all shaking laaa weyyy...

Hello peeps!

Am still reeling from the weekend's exploits at Genting after X Live. And recovering from the sight of Bala in slacks and shirt at the Curve! As Brando slurred in Apocalypse Now - " ...the horror, the hrrrher, the hrrrrr..." :P

Mozzer: Thnx fer the linx mate. Flying Nun were an awesome indie label but sadly underrated and never achieved the coverage it deserved ala Rough Trade or Sup Pop.

Senorita: Since you're in NZ, you should really check this label out, or at least the vibrant indie-electro scene there.

Anba and Kerp: Haha felt guilty as hell when heard about Bob's No Woman, No Cry. Probly one of the most misunderstood songs in the world...

By the way Rastafarianism has already spread to Msia ages ago. Just go to Kg Gandhi, Kg Kayu Ara, Kg Kerinchi etc la! Burger ayam 'special' satu tambah cheese!! Hahaha

Ok time for you posers to check out some real music. Presenting...
