Greatest Film of All Time?

Wifey & meself managed to take a quick break from tending to junior last night & me stuck on the DVD of what is arguably one of the greatest pieces of work ever committed to celluloid - Pulp fooking Fiction.

Despite having watched it numerous times, wifey & meself were still spellbound by the hip-as-fook, one-of-a-kind dialogue & the numerous stylistic cues Quentin Tarantino injects into this masterpiece. From De Palma to Goddard, the visual spectacle is akin to having a toke of some very fine buds. And the fooking soundtrack is just BONG-tastic! Absolutely mind blowing!

Though Tarantino's later works hasn't scaled the dizzy heights of this film (which won the prestigious Palm D'Or at Cannes when it came out), he is still one of the few auteurs whose name is used to describe a certain type of scene or film - Tarantino-esque. Besides Alfred Hitchcock, how many other film makers have had their name enter popular lexicon?

Despite it being released over 13 years ago, its genius hasn't dimmed one bit. If anything, its influence on modern cinema is there fer all to see. If ye've never taken the time to watch this film, me urges ye to treat yer senses to one of the finest films made in the name of entertainment. Those who have, do so again. The knowing laughs that 'Flock of Seagulls' line (& many others) will make yer fooking week.

Royale with cheese, indeed . . .

ps: Look foward to reading yer comments on yer fave parts of this film & yer overall view of its cinematic value.

pps: Also yet to see Inglorious Basterds. Hope its a return to form.

fuck it, here's a shocking confession- i havent seen it YET. fyi, i wasnt really into movies until only a few years ago. had a chat with tony while he was fixing my router recently and he asked if i had watched PF, and i lied that i did. malu la, maybe i shouldnt display the godfather trilogy to avoid pepople to think i'm a movie buff.btw, he mentioned a few other titles and that you and him shares a common taste in Tarantino's masterpieces.

AD:What can me say that has not already been said... its a classic alright. I loved how when you first watch, you didn't understand what all the different parts meant, until towards the end it makes sense and gets connected. Few other movies have tried to do the same... but with disasterous results

BTW, me was driving the other day and saw this sign "Fook Wah Trading". If only it said "Fook Sek Trading" hehehehehehee

Kerp: Yes, M.A.L.U. Fooking hell mate. Pls make sure ye get a copy next time yer at yer friendly pirated dvd dealer. Macha, wajib ni. Nothing else like it out there. Like Achilles said, many have tried but all have failed.

j or ji: That's a reference to one of Danny DeVito's old films who is a producer, me thinks . . .

achilles: Care to name some of those failed examples?

LLT: Ha ha . . . Yer right. Actually remembers more of Reservoir Dogs than this. Perhaps maybe because the script wasn't as fast & furious as Pulp Fiction.

Bernard: "The metric system? Check out the brains on this motherfooker . . ."

it's defs the royale with cheese scene! and any scene when Sam Jackson says motherfucker! :P

but i have to be biased and say that IMHO The Godfather is the besterest movie ever. One of the few movies which was better than the book itself.

Tinesh: Agreed. No less a personage than the late great Stanley Kubrick privately admitted to a friend that Godfather II is probably the greatest film of all time.
Also, on why its better than the book is because Puzo himself penned the script. He now had the extra medium of film with a cast to die fer to convey a story which was previously confined to print.

ps: Me said Pulp Fiction is quite possibly ONE of the greatest films of all time.

Isa: NBK - tale fer another day.

Balaji...
the only thing i could remember about this film was
ving rhames being butt fooked and bruce willis saving him from the sadist thus redeeming himself from the debt...
But compared to reservoir dogs i would choose reservoir dogs but it's a personal choice...

but pulp fiction did relaunch the career of john travolta...and made Samuel jackson a name for coolness...

p/s...
congrats to Liverpool for the much needed win...
