Remember this?
Another World Cup approaches & me has yet to be infected by the fever of anticipation.
This is despite the possibility of seeing a true genius in the shape of Lionel Messi capture our footballing imaginations.
Somehow, have been experiencing seriously diminishing returns with the Greatest Show on Earth since the 1982 & 86 editions . . . Or is just coz me is getting fooking old?

1st off congrats for the arrival of master seth... found out from tinesh.
And I second the old part ;P
praxi: cheeky cow . . .
Messi has so far failed to shine on the international level. I'm still rooting for England as always tho
We've just finished shooting Messi and Lampard as part of our client's FIFA 2010 campaign. Messi may have loadsa talent on field but in front of the camera damn kayu wei haha. Lampard's a natural tho. Sposed to shoot Torres also but da bugger injured himself lol
Meanwhile, I'll be rooting for liverpool for their next match xD
premo: Ha ha . . . Messi kayu . . . Good to know he's crap at something.
Tinesh: England will self-destruct as usual.
praxi: Hmmmm . . .
Yea prolly la. They did after the hype of the last WC.
I'm rooting Liverpool too come May 2nd :P
Admit it la, with their WAGs and shit, the hype England brings to WCs is second to none. FORTUNATELY the same cannot be said when they take on the field.
Regarding the video, it was definitely one of the greatest ever. But the fact that it was ENGLAND being at the receiving end, i wouldnt hesitate to vote the goal as the best WC ever produced!!
muahahahahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
you know what the irony is though chief?
we may support our fair share of rooneys, joecoles, lampards, gerrards, walcotts, dofoes, crouchies, barrys and what not....
but it when it comes to england FC workable football unit as a whole, the disdain, dismay and utter disgust is unnervingly prevalent..
fer some reason or another.
mine stems from 2:
1) the fact that they have unfathomably not stop gloating on the fact of winning 1 world cup way back in 66...that too on:
a) on home soil; and
b) a totally disputed goal..to this very day..did it cross the line or not? a teka-teki at the very least.
2) when teams like england FC win and way much superior teams like the awesome flying dutchmen of the 70s, 80's and early 90's dont amount to nuts - and opt to obliterate themselves and press self-destruct.
no. hang on. add on another 2 grumpy factors on this grumpy why-the-fark-its-not-friday-yet morning...
3) the fullofshit "neutrally" one-sided footie commentators who spiel on the games at the world cup. noticeably many of them are yinglish. glorified "bull" awangs.
used to be a big fan of athletics. especially 800m events and above. my fave used to be the mile - 1500m...circa Seb Coe and the start of the british invasion on the long distance events. omigod. when sebcoe and co won events...needless the commentators took great pains not to let the general public forget. heard from a friend who was in the uK during that time...that the rerun of the race..got played over and over again. yes, even as fillers between shows. ..and
finally:
4) the lack of black / "coloured" players on feature. call me a racist khant. thank you very much. but despite the glut of british-born players - yu didn't really see much of them being featured for a long time till of late. for a long time - all i could remember was...viv anderson. who probably got the rare subs appearance. maybe a lil bit of garth crooks by the side. this was in the shade of a team like WBA already blossoming in the background. check out the baggies squad of the 80's and you'll know what i mean. however, things did improve especially when one mr.J.Barnes started slidin down the wings. and that one supasize banana freekick against brazil in a friendly. i swear the ball did an S. twice i curved.
which is for the same reason, never really picked up a following for the argie bargies. don't tell me there are not coloured folk in grand old argentina. on hang on. i forgot, that used one of the favourite getaway holiday-in-the-sun for ex-nazi's..reformed or otherwise.
apologize upfront for the mild tinge of constipated grumpiness.
yours appreciatively,
moz.
in the context of commentators...
martin tyler is excluded.
he's no bull awang.
moz: Martin Tyler is the fooking dog's bollocks. Wonder if we'll be able to watch footie when he finally retires . . .
kerp: goal no4 Brasil v Italy 1970?
Equally good boss, only that Carlos Alberto's was more of a team effort while Maradona went for personal glory. I root for Brazil but have to admit Maradona's goal was simply extraordinary.
Mozz,
Dei well said. Couldnt agree more, esp on that gloating part. Thats what they're good at but since '66 they dont have much to show for, except ofcos, their WAGs and the players' off the field antics. Kira standard la tu.
The first world cup i remember was 86'...
still the best maradona, zico, socrates platini Voeller...laudrup and manymore..still have all the benson and hegdes s team posters
be rootin for argentina as always..
bring it on...
yeeehaaah
I'll be with a fooking yiddo rooting for Brazil. Now who would have thought of that?
Hehehe...
SWEET BOSOMS OF RIO! now imagine that.
"goons n'yiddoes" - sweet "RIO" of mine..
mwahhahhahhaa...
for the luv of god, i hope lucas warms up the bench well, and gets entreched getting it warm throughout the ENTIRE duration of his contract.
Appreciatively,
Anand.
sorry i meant the ENTIRE duration of the WORLD cup...
muahahhahahahhaa...
No disrespect to the blog owner but Lucas to put it simply, is not a Selecao material. Far from it in fact. Unless ofcos Dunga loses his mind and does an Eriksson!
kerp & mozzer: ye mark me words, Mr leiva gonna be a STAR @ World Cup & he gonne be the replacement fer cesc when he fooks off to barca . . .
Haha...sorry boss but you need to do much more than that to ruin my summer.
Condolences for the loss.
Your loss is my loss too...
I think without doubts the best World Cup was the 1998 Edition isn't? :p
