Football is like a religion?

Football is like religion? Me thinks the pix above speaks loudly enough. This Kopite was spotted in Georgetown during Sunday's Thaipusam celebrations.

And yes, me seriously thinks divine intervention will be required fer us to win the league this year. So perhaps, our friend in the pix had the right idea . . .

Haha, cute one! But there was also a SCUM kavadi there as well, wasn't there?

Well at least he has a high tolerance for pain; something I could do with right about now.

Divine intervention reminds me of Slayer................

Amazing! Takes the title Anfield Devotee to a higher high don't it?

azer: Thanx bro.

JonC: Like me said, me thinks divine intervention is gonna be needed if we are to win title this year.

LLT: What? Where? Did somebody say something? (*feigns ignorance*)

Mark: Apa sakit?

Anba: Not me fave album.

Kevo: Yup. Maybe me should hand over me title to him . . .

Hmmmmmmmm, on another note, i didn't know my employer is so loaded can sponsor Thaipusam events summore. Hint - the logo in the pic.

i think spuds may need another 25 thaipusams before they can think about challenging for the title. no?

*sorry mozz, its just one of those off-the-cuff thing.

hmmmmm on the picture ...

belated Thaipusam wishes to all (myself was lepaking in Temerloh enjoying the whole family time thing)

but as an aside, my aunt was in Bt. Caves and she reported badly behaved Indian youths, drunk and trouble causing running in-between the kavadi carriers, taunting the devotees, harassing the over colourful chicks (ok this last imagery is my own) and there was apparently lack of security or crowd control.

Perhaps they'd (the gomen type people) hoped the ill behaved 'kelings' (have you read the Pendekar Ramlee's blogs?????? Racist BASTARD!) would wipe each other out ...

AD am forwarding you that asswipe's pieces ... chicken shit has privatised his blog now.

kerp: Don't laugh so hard. Yer team is quite a few points adrift at the moment. Next season's uefa cup final - arsenal v spurs?

akuani: Please don't. let them stew in their own shite like the pigs they are. Fook em.

AD: roger that boss! :)

i know la chief, am fully aware of our very unfamiliar position currently. but credits have to give to O'neil and his lads, they've been very consistent and deserve to be where they are now. Young and Gabby especially, their forms are simply admirable.

Although i admire the lads creativity, i must admit of being extremely pissed off. Thaipusam is a holy day for showing gratitude and offering to Lord Muruga. These acts are totally against the teachings of hinduism along with other acts like walking on parangs, suspended on hooks like Kamal Hassan (Batu caves) or drinking alchohol while being in (so called) trance. Its all BS and done to attract attention just like the mat rempits and youths whom Akuani mentioned.

Like Mary said, "The day religion loses it humour, it marks it's downfall!"

It's a festival so as long as it stays festive, GREAT!!

Hope to see a Soton Kavadi soon.....hehehehehe...maybe I'll carry one if we EVER make it back to the premiership!!! hahahahaha!!!

segar: Ok ok, cool bro. Understand where you coming from. According to the article, devotee was carrying kavadi to give thanx fer the birth of his son. The LFC emblem was there in the hope that his son will share his passion. Rite or wrong, me thinks God understands & is far better than all them samseng who throng Batu Caves to cause trouble.

nanda: Premiership? Me thinks you best be carrying a kavadi if you don't get RELEGATED this season!

About these youths yo'll always see them in any Festivals in any town..

But some times i do wonder why they have to resort to these kind of things to attract attention...

its like some of them wait for these type of festival whole year long when it comes
...just to lepas steam..act gila gila... me sometimes think just go to gigs bro but none of them are metal head nor punks.... is like the wrong place to do these antics... what to do silap cakap kita kena hentam or the mighty parang ..hehehhe
some might think its harmless fun... but then again i see year by year the antics are becoming a tad more unacceptable...
instead of reflecting within they become affecting others...
Is their life so empty of things?

Anba: me thinks it's all those damn tamil movies "dushumdushum" at any moment and stupid eve teasing that seems to be glorified to the max and the idiots who think being stupid=cool ....

AARRGHHHHHHHHHH went for 2 Thaipusam's in Bt. Caves many aeons ago and gave up after having to deal with such uncouth morons ... what a disgusting display at a very serious affair!

Would love to sit there taking pictures till I overdosed but just not the kind of scene I can deal with unless I have me bro or Sega Blues and Achilles sized folks around to feel safe ... AD would never make it up the steps ... I managed to do it 2x in 24hours and live to tell the tale ahahahah back when I was young no less!

anfield devotee said...

anba: No metal in their lives as you rightly pointed out . . .

akuani: TQ fer mocking me inability to walk up the steps of Batu Caves . . .

Unknown said...

AD: thou art so sensitive? come bro, time to get healthy ... Achilles is giving us so much info on how to get healthy :))

If we get ya started, next year what's 272 steps up and down man ... :)))

**throwing challenge at AD to healthy up** ... pssst Achilles you think we can wing this??????

Sega Blues said...

Yes AD, I read the artical too but what if someone starts carrying symbols of BN, MIC or PKR in the future? If the fella wants his kid to follow his passion, buy the kid a replica jersey or two, or decorate his whole house like Anfield full of framed photographs of LFC legends la. Tara hormat langsung!! You know what? He is not the only one after some attention. A lot of youths nowadays carry kavadi just to show off. I know this for a fact because some off me DISTANT cousins did the same. Embarassing la. Actually, the temple guardians should enforce strict laws on such practice. If left unchecked, these holy festives will just become a big joke. Sad but true.

akuani: Wish me could.

Sega: Me hears you & me fully understand. Hope this posting didn't offend you.
