Sedition & All Apologies

Am sure most of you have heard that rapper Namewee's apology has been declined. In fact, the full brunt of the law will be heaped on this young patriot's shoulders. Datuk Nazi (to give him his proper title) has said that our Taiwan-based "gangsta" will be punished under sedition laws fer heaping shame on scared cows. In fact, the people at YouTube must be quaking in fear as he wants action to be taken against them as well. Am sure he wants them to tutup kedai ala Operasi Lalang but hey . . .

Since me last posting on this issue, I was surprised to hear comments from some of me mates who thought Namewee "had gone too far"or "anthem is untouchable" etc. If you watch the video you will note that Namewee sings the chorus to our national anthem with full-on passion & penuh perasaan. It simply highlights that he actually gives a shit & is proud of his roots but to paraphrase the Bard, "something is rotten in the state of (Malaysia)".

I find it hard to believe some citizens not aligned to the ruling United Malays Nazi Organization actually think he has committed a serious offence. What about the wonderfully enlightened MPs who made the "bocor" remark regarding a female colleague? How fooking backward & disrespectful is that? How do you think they would have reacted if it was an opposition MP who made that remark?

What about the fact that the youth wing of aforesaid UMNO would put Hitler's original thugs - the brown shirts - to shame? They continually resort to mob rule to challenge and intimidate all and sundry. Once upon the 80s, a certain UMNO youth leader was holding aloft banners that had the keris soaked in darah Cina. His reward - accession to DPM.

With that sort of precedent, no wonder so many of today's young Nazis are falling over themselves to brandish, kiss, fondle, stroke etc the keris. With all this happening around us, yet some Malaysians feel Namewee has "crossed the line of good taste".

Fookin 'ell people, where is yer sense of perspective?

I think some have a different notion on what it means to be patriotic. Consequently that influences what they deem to be unpatriotic. This is perhaps an example of our preoccupation with external/symbolic displays of patriotism such as flying the flag in the run-up to 13 august. By extension it could also explain our preoccupation with setting inane records (longest satay, yee sang, murtabak etc etc) which really is just a complete waste of time and money and no one with half a brain gives a toss about. So if you don't fall into that category - in that you question why things are the way they are or perhaps you do it in an unconventional way, you are labeled as unpatriotic or worse still a threat to national security.

I think namewee has crossed the line in good taste. However, then again i do not think he warrants being arrested for sedition. If the ruling party cannot take the hint of what is going on then I would foresee BN losing its 2/3 majority again. I do not envision that the opposition being in power but they will curtail BN's uncheck power.

Also, come on. The oldest damn trick in politics 101. The use of fear. Use fear in means to control population's perception. Hitler and the Japanese in ww2 used it to good effect.

namewee has a point. For that he gets my vote. If only these fellas just chill and reflect. So if someone from Malaysia writes a best seller and it concerns Malaysia albit negative or positive but ala Salam Rushdie, are we to condemn our intellects?

I believe it was Public Enemy that said Welcome to the Terrordome or was it NWA that said F**K tha Police. However what said, it was said out of expression of the current situation of the day in Malaysia.

Well, Namewee has got guts, that's all I can say. He must have known what he created will cause an uproar.

I'm not sure if he's a patriot or not. But what he says in his songs are all so true but no one dares to speak up so!

Everything he's said is undeniably true which is why the powers that be are focusing on portraying him as a criminal, rather than addressing the content of his lyrics. As for his punishment well... what happened to the 2 people that assisted in the Bali Bombing again?

nick m: yup, spot on with the inane records thingy. M'sians r suckers fer that shite. A mindset created by the venerated Tun . . .

albertus: make no mistake, Namewee is definitely public enemy no1 here. Eat yer hearts out Flavor Flav & Ice Cube!

weiyin: hope a Taiwanese recording company offers him a contract. Bet his "seditious" recording will be hot downloads among Malaysians!

mark: soon to be offered datukships & perhaps a plot of land in Banting . . . This is what they would call national service!

You know what i think? the govt refusal to accept the poor dude's apology is extremely immature, childish and arrogant of the Govertment. 'He offended the nation?' how? by speaking the truth? look at singapore... in 1963 (the year they left), we were better... in the 70s they started building a nation.. Look at where are they today? modern infrastructure, international centre of commerce, integrated and efficient public transport system, NEED I SAY MORE?

so malaysia boleh?

Firstly, the title "Nazi" is reserved a group of people who consider themselves superior and pure. I do not think these w*****s is power feel superior. Infact they have serious inferiority complex. They are afraid of the ability of the Chinese. That is what is driving their racist behaviour.

Sad b******s are doing things out of fear. They needed special privileges for the past 50 years to be on par but they still fall a far cry short of the mark. So, rather than raise their own standards, it is easier to destroy the "competition".
