Compare & contrast the two statements regarding the Hindraf Five which appeared in the NST yesterday:
The PAS Chief said the action by the Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF) at the prime minister's & cabinet's Hari Raya Open House on Wednesday was part & parcel of democracy. Datuk Sei Abdul Awang Hadi said it signalled a change in the democratic practices in the country that should be viewed positively. "I don't think it was rude . . . It's not like they caused a commotion or started fighting," he said.
Vs
"We will ask for an early release, but . . . we will not put any pressure," said MIC president Datuk Seri Samy Vellu.
(fer more pathetic pronouncements by Samy, please go to: http://malaysiakini.com/news/90672).
To all those who still harbour deep misgivings & suspicions over the fundamentalist Islamic party, me would like to paraphrase John Lennon - "All I am saying, please give PAS a chance" (to the tune of Give Peace A Chance).
And while me is totally aware that politicians are NOT to be taken at their word, it's still a refreshing change from the Barisan's fooking bullshit (eg see Azalina Othman below).
Also note one party propounded the virtues of peaceful demonstration in a democracy; the other was still trying to locate its testicles . . .
What say you?

Politics is one thing but after some stories I heard over the weekend (full story on my blog) I'm terrified of where all this is heading!!!!
Yes, Mr Nanda, the future is bleak . . .
ps: perhaps you'd like to recount yer experience when Charles & yerself tried to sign up fer the MIC recently!
"Balls not found, balls not found" *keep saying in a computerized voice. Like some red alert :D
Fuck this shit for a while la.. Im too busy organizing my college prom hahaha
Nanda: Read your blog... wow... didn't know things were that bad-lah. very scary indeed. What's scary is many people have similar stories and accounts... which means its happening very rampantly.
AD: Just me opinion... but Me still has some reservations about PAS-lah... i know they are not the evil do-ers that the media paints them to be, but to have them in power... i dunno... i am ok with the idea of them being in the coallition...but if it came down to choosing one party, all me money will be with PKR and DSAI.
tinesh: college prom? aaaah . . . the frivolities of youth . . . them were the days . . .
achilles: Fully understand yer concerns. But do realsie this is the poltical reality. Pakatan would be nowhere without PAS's fantastic grassroots network & formidable election machine.
But the point is that PAS have actually spoken up fer the HINDRAF FIVE. call it political mileage but it is still far better than the fooking crap bing sprouted by the castrated BN partners.
Unfortubately, though, the extreme silence emanating from Keadilan the last few weeks would suggest Anwar's bid to topple the govt has fizzled out.
Looks like Anwar's rhethoric was nothing but bluster . . . sigh.
Just a little thing about this PAS guys...since I go diving so often on the east coast.....the people there are really really nice and honestly, I felt safer there having teh tarik at 12 am as compared to Klang!!!!
it was done in a peaceful manner. had first hand account of what actually transpired that day from zorro, who queued in together with the hindraf group. whats even more pleasant to hear was, none of the guys from the free-RPK group bothered to shake DPM's hand...muahahaha...
AD: Yeah... lots of people are also asking the same question about DSAI. But there is still that small glimmer of hope in me that he will suddenly strike... guess we can only hope and see-lah.
Me personally feels he should not have mentioned a date. This way he has the element of surprise and if things don't happen, you don't have to shy away coz no one knows your target. but what to do... its been done.
nanda: macha, anywhere else also safer than klang-lah. hehehehehee. but yeah... know what you mean. Me wife used to work in Klang hospital those days and almost everyday you will get one parang victim coming in... more on weekends.
nanda: Yer wife must be thinking what the fook?!!? She married a THUG from the GHETTO! Ha ha . . .
kerp: yeah . . . these BN fookers are jsut so damn arrogant & yet people think Malaysia CANNOT survive without them . . . adoi . . .
achilles: Me thinks Anwar run of steam . . . kaput. notice how all the focus is now on UMNO elections. Analysts seem to think that UMNO will continue to run the country hence no news on Anwar. Sigh . . .
speaking of PAS; anyone interested in the inner machinations of this Islamist party should read this:
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/opinion/muazomar/10109-cikgu-pa-bites-the-turks
Analysis on current power struggle between orthodox nationalist faction who want to sleep with the enemy (ie UMNO) & the other reformist wing.
Intriguing stuff. But also will have wider implactions fer all Malaysians as which factions iwns will ultimately shape the political landscape fer years to come.
