Truly Muhibbah

"How often do you see such a mixed group of people hanging out & having a great time," quipped Becky "The Beauty Spot" Lee halfway through our Bloggers get-together @ Fatty Crab last Saturday. And how rite he was. Amongst the 25-strong group, there were Indian, Chinese, Ceylonese, Punjabi & a hardcore Melayu porn fan all mingling in the true spirit of muhibbah.

Me actually noticed when the restaurant was packed, there was no other table that featured a rainbow spectrum of colours - the tables were all Chinese, all Mat Salleh, all Indian or all Malay. Unlike ours which really was the epitome of the muhibbah spirit.

In light of the recent attacks from BN bigwigs on bloggers being up to no fooking good, me has this to say. Yes, many of us blogger rant, rave & fooking grumble about the state of things. But at least me can proudly say this group of bloggers are doing our bit to foster national unity (unlike the BN bastards who keep playing the race card) . . .

Thanx again fer yer presence & showing despite everything, the true spirit of muhibbah lives (at least in this corner of cyberspace)!

It was truly a memorable night. It was a pleasure to meet some of you for the first time, and nostalgic to meet up with those I've not seen in a long time. Moz punya "Bear Beer" had me buzzing right through to the next morning.

theALBERTUS said...

It was great to see everyone and a pleasure to talk about heavy metal (though i only went as hardcore as marilyn manson), liverpool fc, politics etc..

I was busy that day that I did not eat lunch but the meal was mmmph!

Nice photos! Indeed it was nice to see ol faces again and a pleasure to get to know new ones. It simply doesnt get any more muhibbah than this! If only the rest of the nation's bickering parties and woes could be solved and overcome with a round of drinks and good food :)

anfield devotee said...

becky: so you like yer new nickname - Beauty Spot Lee?

premo: perhpas our MPs should all guzzle a few cans of Bear Beer before each session . . .

albertus: tell yer wifey we went to beach club after that . . .

mark said...

Dei how many nicknames do you want me to have lah? I'm having an identity crisis here as it is...

Am looking forward to tonight's debate!

Fuiyoh! The 12% bear beer startled look from me. Hahahahaha! U just had to put it up eh?

Again, was an honour and pleasure to meet everyone!

Bernard said...

I've imbibed quite a few foul tasting alcoholic products in my life, including tuak that's way past its best but that Bear Beer (even when ice cold) is really something else. LLT & I were looking at each other trying to figure out how to finish a single can of 12% between the 2 of us. Moz, thanks for the beer-la you were very thoughtful, but I'd rather have illicit samsu!!

Next stop : Muru's place!

anfield devotee said...

moz: Pay no heed to them. Ungrateful bastards!

JonC: Yup, that's a good photo.

Becky: Ok will stick to good ole Becky.
Unfortunately, the debate has been reduced to just 1 hour. Wonder why?

bernard: Muru's is next stop. Aug 31?

Yup!! It was a blast!! My wifei did add the next day, " You came home drunk didn't you???" hehehehehe!!!
Thanks for a great party dude!!

tuan mark/becky/sexy-mole/balakov dude - POINT AGREED. truly farkin muhibbah.
to all those on the table; on the floor (vertical or horizontal); on the wheels. to all those semi-drunk, half-drunk and all-overboard on inane incantations ol'pub numbers (read: "soldier of fortune"); sliglty ditzly and the wise-ones who chose either full or semi abstainment from either the whiskey or beer (i.e. never to mix)...and some of the most lively conversation i've had in a long time..(sad huh?) mwahhahaa.
wa tabik springggg la bro...summma masuk.

tuan balakov/tuan kerpov/tuan premokov/tuanbernadkov plus and "kov" i left out in puttin' this together - few "hail sabbaths" is order for you fella alrights. no mean feat organizing something like this. i've been tryin' to get some wankers from me own batch/schoolmates, just to sit down and have a beer at the local cornershop - is a pure arsebleed. oh, oh i forgot, hang on...most of me schoolmates, have wifeys and kids..and girlies to spend quality time with...but wait wait..last i checked i heard some of the dudes with us that night have kids taller than me waist. and trust me. a lot of us do have wifeys and girlies..and get his one of them abstains from the evil booze. and yet the dude camped out with us.
so you lot, the batch of '92/93 from kajang high school (science stream fuhyoohhh) IN CASE YOU DO CHANCE ABOUT THIS during yer "google searches" here's A BIG FARK YOU ALL farkin kannninaaabehhhchaucheebaipundeks - (excluding the honourable gavin chan)

there, am glad i got that out of the system. chief, it was awesome and i had a really sweet time man. effort was supreme. and before anyone gets the wrong idea, i didn't bring that shite beer out of any undue evil intentions alright. having said that the first 2 times i drank about 1 and half a can each, i did wake up the next time looseheaded than usual. but i wrote-off it due to the events surrouding it - i.e. mainly due to the long work hours the preceeded it. hope to see ya fellas soon. have a good one.

p.s. to all those who had the bear and reached home safely and slept in their beds-i'm relieved. (i did reach home, but i slept in the car in front of my house, not realising it was my house. (yes la , i'm sure i was sleeping inside the car la not hanging out of the car). so there, not one shy to lament on drunken misadventures, the bear kamikazed me. or rather i kamikazed meself.:))

p.s. 2 - oh yeah, one more thing for all those who willingly tried my "carry-out" - cheers dudes. thanks for givin' me the face, yu hear. (only the HC guzzlers can get that i think. no offence meant to others whatosever)

take care. tabik spring skali lagi la bebbbb!

Jon-C said...

We came, we chatted, we ate and best of all we drank! What more can we ask for?

I have this uncanny feeling, we might have a new information minister before the end of the week after tonite's debate. Kekekeke!

Jon-C said...

Fuiyoh! Satu lagi karangan dari Moz. Muahahahaaha. ;0)

Actually now that u mentioned it, i got sobered after i reach home and couldn't sleep until 4 am. Ended up playing PS3 games before i fell asleep.

mark said...

Bala, I may not be able to make it on Aug 31, if I have a Merdeka event. Play it by ear lah. I'm fine with Mr. Muru's place but beer and curry?!?! Dei, best ask him to clean the toilets before we go :)

anfield devotee said...

JonC: Should have bungkused a few cans of Bear with you . . .

Moz: Nice one with the cooler dude.
As fer organising this, only Anba who was due to meet his new in-laws could't make it. (So how Anba - Aug 31?)

Fooker moz, you drove outstation after that ah?

anfield devotee said...

becky: beer & whiskey la. Anways, he says there's a decent bar a few lots from his shop, so we can camp there. Plus the season would have started & there'll be footie . . . though am not sure whether that is a good thing the way our summer spending spree is going.

Aug 30? Better?

Bernard said...

Am OK with 31/8/2008 @ Muru's. We'll have a "Muhibbah Merdeka Bersama Muru" special...

Bernard said...

BTW Becky, nothing wrong with beer & whiskey with curry. Goes down well what???

Comes out well also.

DorisL said...

I thot I would be the odd one out especially since I was deemed unwelcomed and a gatecrasher by certain quarters but admittedly, I had a great time as well. Nice seeing all the familiar faces again. As I have mentioned to Bernard on our way back that nite (if he was still in a state to recall what I said to him), if you guys don't mind being the "white mice", we could offer our hospitality for the next gathering after "Muru's place" :)

AD : Other than Kerp I was also sober lah ...had to make sure my drunkard hubby get home safe & sound ...haha

Moz : You're right ...if there's a will there's always a way. We've got kids and we were one of the last to leave ...so no excuses for having wifeys or girlies or kids

doris: yer always welcome. You know that! Am not foolish like Kopite78 . . . hee hee!

Becky: Abstain la from the . . . curry! Ask fer roti kosong with sugar la!

ps: Guys, do check out the vid sesame street vid above.

DorisL said...

Becky : Not ler ....something went wrong somewhere lah ..... my "cheong hei"ness was partly contributed by your whisky & beer lah ..hehe

DorisL said...

AD : haha next time we have it at our place kopite78 not welcomed also (unless of course if he brings some sweetener along lah) nothing less than a Glenlivet but Lagavulin will be good ...:)

Mark/Becky : Playing w fire like Kopite huh? You may just get burnt soon!

Doris : Wah! 3 shots of Baileys and one beer and still ok! Next time double of everything!

Jon-C : Classic shot! Shows how much u loved the Bear!

Moz : Appreciate u bringing the Bears man!

Bernard : How did we solve the problem? By having Black and Chivas after that! Haha!

AD : I can't make it on 31 Aug. 30 shd b fine.

DorisL said...

LLT : Erm .. not trying to be defamatory here but i think the Baileys were watered down lah ....more like milo ice ...haha

Jon-C said...

Fuiyoh! Bailey = milo ais..... beer = chinese tea, then them whiskey must be equal to herbal tea? Kekekeke.

DorisL said...

Jon-C: haha Mark could vouch for that ... he had a shot of the Baileys as well .... more like milo ice eh ?

anfield devotee said...

To all alcoholics, bailey's will taste like Milo Ais . . . Fer sure la. Next time drink tequilla la madam Doris.

titoki said...

Wow, you girls and guys seemed to have a great time at the Crab Partee!!! :) How I wished I was there. Sigh...

mark said...

Did I have a shot of Bailey's? I really don't remember...

anfield devotee said...

titoki: yes, shame you couldn't join us. But since everybody had a blast, we are thinking of doing the next one on 30 Aug at a friend's banana leaf restaurant behind Kelana Jaya Giant. Will keep you posted!

becky: perhaps yer beauty spot drank the bailey's . . .

mark said...

Bala: Judging from the way you stumbled into your car after, you sure you didn't swallow the whole bottle?

Jon-C said...

It's the 12% i tell you! Muahahaha... when it hit the roof, everything else went down the drain.

A few of us got a bit worried for a moment there as its a pretty long drive home for AD.

anfield devotee said...

becky: yeah, man, fooking felt like a bear was trying to rip me head off just fer the fooks of it . . . And to think me only had the "light" version & not the 12% cannister!

Moz, never again . . . until the next time that is hee hee!

anfield devotee said...

JonC: Yes, it usually a long drive . . . this time it became an extra long & ardous commute.

Hmmmm . . . Wonder where to buy ah this Bear Beer . . . Moz?

mark said...

Think I remember Moz mentioning it was a small sundry shop in Puchong! Ok wat Bala!

anfield devotee said...

Becky: Er, dude, in case you haven't noticed, Puchong ain't that small la . . .

mark said...

I've been to your place, I know. I was unawares that people in that uncharted part of the world had even discovered language.

Bernard said...

Baileys meant to be downed neat-la...next time fix up a Milo 'kau' with a shot or three of vodka.

DorisL said...

AD : Wah I'm am no where near being an alcoholic when I am with the bunch of you ....by comparison, I am more like just having choc shake ...

Mark : sure you don't remember lah ...by that time AD oredi left & I was forced to down your beer in exchange for the Baileys ....LLT and whoever were still sober enough could vouch for that ... or maybe your Bailey's was spiked ??

mark said...

Doris: AD had left? I do remember walking seeing him slump into his car seat after wor... I remember you downing a glass of whisky after I offered to down my beer. I'm 100% man, I don't drink Bailey's :P

mark said...

I was drugged and duped into drinking it.

anfield devotee said...

becky: ha ha . . . what kind of pundek challenges a lady to drink by exchanging his beer fer . . . pfffrrrrt . . . bailey's !!!?!

Tinesh said...

mark said...

bala: I was challenged and like real man, I did not back down! :)

tinesh: yes, drink more. you have a choice of many mentors.

Life's Like That said...

Mark : You did take the Baileys! I can vouch for that. I was still sober. Tho not sure if AD had left!

AD : Good idea. Tequila shots all round next time!

Doris : Your lo-kong say wan ah. Next time your Baileys will have "Extra" 3 shots of vodka!

Jon-C said...

Wah power! Vodka spiked milo the next time we met. Kekekeke..... no wonder senorita also turn "social" drinker thanks to kudi-kaaran like us.

Achilles said...

AD: How come my picture not there? hehehehe. OK OK.. i know i came late.

Yes it was great to meet up with a lot of old friends and to meet some new ones. was great. it was especially great to put faces to blog names...

30th sounds better than 31st lah...but either way... i will be there. As long as you guys don't start at 5 pm, i will be on time this time.

Kerp (Ph.D) said...

achilles and all,

hey, 30th august falls on saturday la. by then EPL has already started. why cant we do it much earlier, say the first week of august for instance?

Mark,

that minister fella should resign. he did not answer all the questions and went astray with his gibberish. he's only interested at having a dig at anwar than to try and resolve the fuel price woes. fucking that fella only cares what his bosses say, not the rakyat. no wonder la he's the info minister. keeping to tradition, all past angkasapuri bosses were dumbasses.

DorisL said...

Mark : Oi whisky was still at Fatty Crab lah ...if you couldn't even remember that then I tak tau apo nak di kato . 100% man don't drink Baileys ? What about 100% woman drinking whisky & beer ?? Or you insinuating that I am not 100% woman ?? ;P

LLT : Thanks for being the "witness" haha. Baileys spiked with vodka ??? Yucks . Don't lah spoil my milo ice hehe. I wouldn't mind vodka lime or vodka ribena though ..hehe

Jon-C: Not sure if you are referring to me but as the saying goes "if you can't beat them then join them" so looks like I don't really have much of a choice and I am not a "guiness" person like Kerp :) & if I attempted to have "kat chai shuen mui" then kena from you fellas ...haha..so what to do

Kerp (Ph.D) said...

yea, i had 3 bowls of fried rice, some wings, crabs, prawns and 3 pints of guinness...kihkihh...

becky: shame on you . . . new nickname, Mr Bailey?

Doris: We all know you are hardcore la . . .

Well from reading the postings here and also the pictures - it looks like I missed out on one fun evening (I'd have been the other sober person other than Kerp *kih kih kih* - I don't drink since I have to drive)

AD after Sept and my 'Godfather' adventure to the land Wine and Pizza, if people don't mind a BYOB drive to Seremban - my BBQ pit is open to all :) (you've seen it before and I do rig up a mean BBQ)

And there's a lot of floor space to crash out till everyone's sobered up - hospitality goes as far as coffee and breakfast, towels and toothbrushes to freshen up - we've had SOME parties in Seremban :))

and no worries about the carry-outs alright. it's something i had picked up while livin on the east coast. its like whenever someone visits, they're always bringing over something or other. left me dumbfounded most of the time (yeah exactly - for me some more). so much, that i purposefully keep me fridge stocked in case i visitors come in. so that i'm not caught nannygroping for gifts la.

all in all. this again. another long piece of shite. so deal with it. mwahhahahhaa

Kerp : My thoughts exactly. He was most concern with attacking Anwar's character, trying to discredit him. Incidentally, shouldn't "Menteri Penerangan" translate into "Explanation Minister", and not "Information Minister"? Information translates into "Maklumat", does it not? Maybe that's why they got him to debate lah, to explain.
