Two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl . . . (Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here)

As me said, wifey & meself would be having a little tribute to the recently departed Richard Wright by playing the entire Floyd discography this weekend.

Me would like to invite the rest of you to follow suit. Those who don't own any Floyd &/or are not familiar with the works of this great British band, me proudly presents to you what me considers its all time masterpiece - Wish You Were Here (1975).

To download, please click: http://www.mediafire.com/?ad12syxgm11

Trust me on this, this is one super chill out album which is perfect to enjoy a quiet drink to & fer some self-indulgent navel gazing . . . and even better fer nursing a hangover.

Compelling, beautiful & utterly tragic all at the same time. Me gets goosebumps every single fooking time me listens to this . . . honest.

ps: A little trivia - Pink Floyd take their name form two Delta Bluesmen - Pink Henderson & Floyd Council. So there, now you know.

pps: Look forward to reading yer comments on this absolute classic of an album. Here's to a Floyd weekend!

senorita: Awesome! Glad you dig Shine On. Wait till you hear the title track. Fooking goosebump bonanza!

Use a free trial programme like WinRar to zip file. Then right click to extract to folder. Then use Nero to burn onto CD.

You managed to download Finntroll. Use same application. Should work. TQ fer trying this album out. Enjoy!

senorita: Oh yeah, that's Floyd fer you. And yes, the whole album was produced to sound like one loooooong song.

So what's yer verdict? Comment on title track?

There are so many thing me likes about it. Richard Wright's synth intro to Shine On. Dave Gilmpour's exquisite guitar on the entire album (but outstanding on Shine On & Wish You Were Here). The first sax break on Shine on. etc etc.

Fooking awesome stuff.

amir: Welcome to me humble abode! Nice of you to drop by. Found yer site via our mutual oil & gas whore nanda!

The music posts are just to relieve the tension of the current impasse facing our political lndscape.

However, this posting is a heartfelt tribute to one of me heroes, Pink Floyd's Richard Wright, who passed on Sep16.

Hope to see you around these parts more often!

Pure: Money eh . . . no wonder yer such the entrepreneur. And nice to finally see you drop a comment here instead of yer usual smses.

senorita: Now you know why Floyd is held in such high regard by so many. If you like this, might me venture to sugest Dark Side Of The Moon (1973)?

Hmmmm . . . canna recall Shine On in American Beauty. Take yer word fer it. Were they on the soundtrack?

ps: Shine On - do you like Pt I-VI or Pt VII-IX? ie song no1 or song no5?

My first impression of Floyd was not that good...
The first Floyd song i heard was Money...that was way back in 92'..it was in a compilation of classic 70's song...i didnt like the song..( Those early years...music that i could layan was..Metallica..slayer Megadeth..obituary...and so on...

Suprisingly my interest in Floyd was rekindled by a thrash band Wratchild America who covered Floyd's Time in the Climbing the Wall album...and also Dave Mustaine's interview in Guitar World in which he praised Floyd's Wish you were here song...
To quote DaveMustaine.. Gilmour can play the same emotions in 3 notes compared to Malmsteen who takes a million notes...
so it prompted me to chek out their album...
I cant find the words to describe Their songs...like
Shine on You Crazy Diamond..
one of these days
time
Comfortably Numb
wish you were here

Superb and mind blowing would be an understatement...

A pinacle of human achievement in rock music...
p/s
By the way all the Pink Floyd members pride themselves being anonymous...

Thanks man...Pink Floyd entertained me today (Working at the office on a fecking Sunday...how fun is that). :)
BIG HUGS to you - DA MAN!

Believe it or not, my Scot supervisor has a pic of this poster in his office...hahaha

Anyway, Another Brick In The Wall (the haunting chants of 'We Dont Need No Education') is still my favourite Pink Floyd track, along with Wish You Were Here Now, of course.

Vox populi (voice of the people) ---> hasil of 'collective intelligence' - the theory im talking about in my blog fits this (We Dont Need No Education) nicely.

Dangit..im babbling again

anba: Thanx fer the link. Will check it out soon. Any other info on this mysterious Malaysian?

Teng Hock: Yer welcome & glad you liked it. Also great that you were able to download & pay tribute to a great musician whose works shall never be forgotten.

classyadele: Aduh, working on Sunday sucks big time. Me is typing this from an internet cafe as me area (puchong) blackout. Me wifey thinks BN are punishing us fer the Teresa Kok issue!

Anways, am glad this album helped brightened up yer day! Shine on!

Due to the blackout, wifey & meself has not managed to play Floyd's entire discography in tribute to Richard Wright.

So far managed Dark Side, Momentary Lapse of Reason, Wish You Were Here, Meddle, The Wall & Obscured By Clouds. Hopefully be able to do a few more when (if?) power comes back on.

What can i say that has not been already said about floyd. fooking brilliant musicians... and love their stuff. It really whisks you away to a far off place the instant you listen to their stuff.

AD: Blackout in Puchong? my house was just fine. sure it wasn;t because the govt trying to fook with you because of yer blog? hehehehehee.

BTW, i know this lari topic a bit, but Metallica's Death Magnetic is a definite improvement from St. Anger... Long intros & solos but nothing memorable or catchy like their older stuff-lah. I would say it's OK, but not Wow.

achilles: Yeah, was listening to some albums me hasn't listened to in a while. eg Obscured By Clouds.

Me blog? No lar, me is small time with just a few friends dropping by lar. No threat to anyone.

Metallica - yup, agreed. So you downloaded or beli?

AD: Finally managed to download...and also i saw their video for "The day that never comes" on MTV. Personally, i think hetfield kinda overdoes the growling a little.

and unforgiven 3??? these fookers in the wrong business-lah... should get into movie business, since they like sequels and trilogies.

Bro here's the info from wikipedia
if you you tube sam gopal you can get their song...

Sam Gopal (also called Sam Gopal's Dream) is an underground British Psychedelic rock band.

The band is named after its founder, Sam Gopal, born in Malaysia. From the age of seven, he played tabla, a northern Indian percussion that replaced drums in the band.

On 28 April 1967, the band performed at The 14 Hour Technicolor Dream, a UK Underground event organised by the International Times at Alexandra Palace. The line-up was Sam Gopal, Mick Hutchinson and Pete Sears. Other performing bands included Pink Floyd, The Pretty Things, Savoy Brown, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Soft Machine, and The Move. Sam Gopal Dream played at the UFO Club, The Electric Garden in Covent Garden (later to become Middle Earth), The Roundhouse, and Happening 44. They later played the Christmas on Earth Show at Olympia in London with Traffic, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. Jimi Hendrix later sat in with the original Sam Gopal Dream at London's Speakeasy Club.

After the original band broke up in 1968, Sam formed a new line-up which included vocalist, Lemmy. He was a singer-guitarist with Sam Gopal, before becoming the bassist of Hawkwind and, in 1975, the founder, singer and bassist of Motörhead.

Sam Gopal's album Escalator was recorded in 1968.
